1) 2016 Macular Degeneration Seminar

Public invited to free symposium Jan. 23, 2016 on macular degeneration.
On Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 Retina Health Center and the Foundation Fighting Blindness will host their 13th annual Southwest Florida Macular Degeneration Symposium providing the latest information on treatment options and new discoveries. The free event will take place at the Hyatt Regency at Coconut Point with two sessions available: 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Patients can register with the Foundation Fighting Blindness starting November 25th by calling (800) 586-6765.

2) Pine Island ClamJam Food & Music Festival 2016

4) Collage on Canvas: Owl
Organization: Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center

Local artist Marjorie Pesek will lead this 3-hour workshop for adults of all levels of creative talent. She will share her unique art technique of Layered Imagery. Participants will be supplied with a sketch on a 9" x 12" stretched canvas, a template of the subject, glue, scissors, and magazines. Marjorie will work with you to create a masterpiece you can take home! Additional kits available for purchase in the nature store. See examples on Marjorie's website by clicking here.

Cost is $55 and $45 for Friends of Rookery Bay members. Registration fee includes one adult (ages 12+) and all necessary supplies. Come early and enjoy complimentary admission to the Environmental Learning Center.

5) ***The Music Man*** One of Broadway's Most Loved Musicals.

The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize, although he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. When he falls for spirited, Marian (the librarian) she transforms him into a respectable citizen. Marches, Barber-shop quartets and sentimental ballads.
